THE CHARITY

The Kyaninga Child Development Centre

Running the Rift Marathon exists to raise funds for the Kyaninga Child Development Centre

THE KCDC

The KCDC provides support for children with disabilities and their families in and around Fort Portal. Founded in 2015 the KCDC now has a team of 12 specialist therapists and has treated almost 900 children (as of Nov 2017). They provide a vital service, one that just doesn’t exist otherwise and the #RiftMaz plays an important role in raising funds and awareness..

The KCDC is at the heart of the Rift. As part of the Rift, you will get the chance to meet the children and see the charity’s incredible work. Through funds raised by our runners, and donated proceeds, the Rift family have raised tens of thousands of pounds for the KCDC. We encourage all of our runners to raise £500 each and be part of this incredible journey.

Inspiration

Every year David Emong, silver medal Paralympian and gold medal Para World Champ, joins us for the event. The message he gives to the children and their families about disability not being an inability is so important for them to hear and see from somebody as well known and admired as David.

Join the Fun

The KCDC is the heart and soul of the event and you’ll get to meet and play with some of the kids on the afternoon of race day. Get ready for sack races, egg & spoon races, rugby, football, juggling, drums, racing David Emong and more. It always proves a massively popular part of the trip and means as much to our runners as it does to the kids and their families.
